Project 18 Mentoring

Teens ages 13-21 in foster care in Palm Beach County are matched with mentors for four hours monthly over two years. Mentors provide guidance and encouragement as youth work toward high school graduation, explore college and career options, develop life skills, and learn to drive.

Project 18 Mentoring: Building bridges to success for teens in foster care

Teens ages 13-21 in foster care in Palm Beach County are matched with mentors for four hours monthly over two years. Mentors provide guidance and encouragement as youth work toward high school graduation, explore college and career options, develop life skills, and learn to drive.

What to expect:

You’ll will be matched with an adult mentor in the community. You both agree to meet at least four hours per months for a full two years.

Mentors help you prepare for the next stage in your life by providing encouragement and guidance as you:

  • Work to achieve educational goals, including high school graduation
  • Visit and apply to colleges
  • Apply for jobs and gain employment skills
  • Learn important life skills, such as budgeting, cooking and finding reliable transportation
  • Learn to drive and obtain your driver license
