James Atkinson

James Atkinson serves as Senior Vice President of Development for Children’s Home Society of Florida (CHS), where he leads and oversees the organization’s statewide development teams. In this role, he drives philanthropic growth across major gifts, corporate partnerships, foundation relations, special events, and donor engagement initiatives that support children and families across Florida. He also plays a key leadership role in advancing CHS’s $132 million Every Child Ready campaign, helping position the organization for long‑term, statewide impact.

With more than 30 years of leadership experience spanning nonprofit development and
enterprise sales, James is known for building high‑performing teams, cultivating strong
community partnerships, and implementing scalable strategies that grow donor pipelines and deepen engagement.

Prior to joining CHS, he held senior fundraising leadership roles with the American Cancer Society, where he led multi‑year corporate and individual giving strategies. Earlier in his career, James held senior leadership positions with Apple and British Gas, overseeing large teams and significant revenue portfolios.

Originally from England, James has called Central Florida home for more than two decades. He lives in Orlando with his family and values experiences that foster connection,  perspective, and community.
