Summer May Change the Schedule. It Doesn’t Change the Need.

When Summer Begins, New Challenges Can Emerge

For many students and their families, summer brings excitement, adventure, and a well-earned break from the classroom. But for thousands of families across Florida, the season can also bring new challenges.

When school is out, many of the resources families rely on every day become less accessible. School meals, trusted adults, behavioral health services, and connections to community support may suddenly be harder to reach. For families already navigating financial hardship or other challenges, summer can widen those gaps.

At Children’s Home Society of Florida, we believe children and families deserve support all year long.

Community Partnership Schools Are Here Year-Round

That’s why our 37 UCF-Certified Community Partnership Schools continue serving students and families long after the final school bell rings.

By bringing essential resources directly into the communities where children live, learn, and grow, Community Partnership Schools help ensure that support doesn’t stop just because classes do. Through partnerships with schools, healthcare providers, community organizations, and local leaders, families can access services like behavioral health support, healthcare, food assistance, family engagement programs, and other critical resources in one trusted location.

This wraparound approach removes barriers to success and gives families a trusted network they can rely on throughout the entire year.

Meeting Families Where They Are

Recently, our team at Orange Park High School, A Community Partnership School partnered with the community to host a food distribution, helping families access nutritious food during the summer months.

But the impact extended beyond groceries. Families also connected with on-campus counseling services and learned about additional resources available through the Community Partnership School.

It’s a simple but powerful approach: meet immediate needs while building long-term stability for children and families.

Small Moments Create Lasting Change

A food distribution can help put meals on the table. A conversation with a counselor can connect a family to mental health services. A single introduction to available resources can open the door to ongoing support.

When families have access to these services before challenges become crises, children are better equipped to stay healthy, engaged, and ready to succeed both in and out of the classroom.

That’s the power of prevention.

Building Stronger Communities, One Family at a Time

We know lasting change happens when communities come together to support children before they reach a point of crisis.

Through Community Partnership Schools, we’re fundamentally disrupting generational cycles of poverty and child maltreatment by connecting families with the resources they need where children already live, learn, and grow.

Every partnership. Every resource. Every opportunity brings us one step closer to a Florida where every child has the chance to thrive.
