This year, the holidays are going to look a little brighter for Brittney and her son Amari. After being separated for three years while Amari was placed in foster care, the family has been reunited and will spend the holidays together.

Brittney grew up in a family where both parents suffered from addiction. Sadly, she fell into the same cycle of heavy substance abuse and self-destructive behaviors at a young age.

Amari was placed in foster care for his safety shortly after he was born while Brittney could focus on overcoming her challenges. To be separated from her son broke Brittney’s heart and she knew she wanted to do everything in her power to bring him home.

She consistently fought to be reunified but struggled with maintaining her sobriety. One of her greatest hurdles came when it looked as though Amari could become available for another family to adopt him.

But Brittney continued to fight for her son and herself.

With the support of Children’s Home Society of Florida, Brittney found guidance and support to overcome her challenges. She has maintained her sobriety and built a strong support system to continue to make strides towards a brighter future. Brittney was happily reunified with Amari on Mother’s Day 2021!

They are doing wonderfully and are happy to enjoy the holidays as reunified family.
