St. Augustine, Fla. (June 2, 2021) — Children’s Home Society of Florida (CHS) has appointed former State Representative Doug Wiles to its statewide Board of Directors.

Wiles is the President of Herbie Wiles Insurance and a resident of St. Augustine. In 2004, he completed eight years as a member of the Florida House of Representatives, serving Clay, Flagler, St. Johns, and Volusia Counties. He is a retired lieutenant colonel, having served in the US Army and the Florida Army National Guard for 25 years.

Wiles joins the CHS governing board dedicated to empowering children and their families to find – and pursue – opportunities for success and happiness. Through this leadership role with CHS, he will help more children and teens across Florida realize their full potential as CHS delivers innovative solutions in child welfare, early childhood, mental health counseling, mentoring, job training, youth outreach and community partnership schools.

In addition to his work in child advocacy and four decades of experience in insurance and risk management, Wiles has served with the University of Florida’s Whitney Laboratory Board, the St. Johns County Value Adjustment Board and the St Augustine Firefighters Retirement Board. He also served as Chair for the Flagler Hospital Board of Trustees. Wiles is a graduate of the University of Florida.
