Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits, North America’s largest distributor of wine and spirits, recently donated 3,000 backpacks filled with school supplies to Orlando’s Children’s Home Society of Florida (CHS).

With headquarters in Miami and Dallas, Southern Glazer’s runs an in-house volunteer program called VolunCheers, staffed by employees at six company facilities in Miramar, Lakeland, Tampa, Jacksonville, Orlando and Palm Beach.

JanSport provided backpacks at cost for Southern Glazer’s staffers to outfit with school supplies.

With 2017 marking the fourth consecutive year the company has supported CHS, Southern Glazer’s allotted the backpacks to CHS-served youngsters in 20 counties.

“Southern Glazer’s is passionate about giving back and helping those in need,” Gene Sullivan, executive vice president and general manager of Florida for Southern Glazer’s, said in a press release. “I’m so proud of our local VolunCheers who go above and beyond year after year to contribute their time and efforts to this meaningful cause.”

CHS is Florida’s oldest, largest statewide organization dedicated to helping children and families, serving over 50,000 Floridians annually.

“Southern Glazer’s generosity makes a significant difference for students in our communities, as thousands of children are now better prepared for the new school year,” CHS president and CEO Michael Shaver said in the release. “We are grateful for their generosity and commitment to helping children in Florida [to] realize their full potential.”
