September is Suicide Prevention Month, a powerful reminder that mental health support saves lives. At Children’s Home Society of Florida (CHS), our Behavioral Health team is on the front lines every day, making sure no child or family has to face struggles alone.
From anxiety and depression to trauma and behavioral challenges, young people across Florida often carry heavy burdens that affect their well-being, their families, and their futures. That is where Stacey Rowe, Clinical Program Director of Behavioral Health, and her team step in.
CHS Behavioral Health services expand access to counseling and intervention for children and teens who need someone to walk beside them. Our counselors work directly with youth to build coping skills, process emotions, and heal from trauma, while also partnering with parents to strengthen the family as a whole. The goal is not only to help kids through a crisis, but also to give families the tools they need to grow stronger together.
“When a young person feels unseen, every day becomes heavier. But when CHS steps in, offering someone to listen and someone who cares, I see the weight begin to lift,” shared Stacey Rowe, Clinical Program Director, Behavioral Health.

Stacey and her team know that mental health challenges do not exist in isolation. They affect school performance, family stability, and a child’s ability to thrive. That is why CHS integrates Behavioral Health support into schools, homes, and communities across Florida. By meeting families where they are, we remove barriers to care and create safe spaces where healing can begin.
“Parents sometimes share that they feel like they aren’t enough. When they find support through our programs, they begin to feel valued and understood. Watching that transformation from doubt to confidence is one of the most rewarding parts of this work,” Stacey said.
The impact is profound. A teenager who once felt hopeless can now envision a future. A parent who once felt overwhelmed can now breathe easier knowing they have support. A family that once felt broken can begin to feel whole again.
At CHS, Behavioral Health is more than counseling. It is about restoring hope, rebuilding confidence, and showing families that they are never alone. Every child deserves the chance to feel safe, supported, and valued. At CHS, we strive to make sure every parent knows help is available and accessible to them.
If you or someone you know is struggling, remember that hope is possible and help is available. CHS is here to listen, to guide, and to walk forward with you. Together, we can make September and every month a season of healing and resilience.
