Research initiatives at Children’s Home Society of Florida focus on building the evidence base of our programs and services, reaching more than 50,000 kids and family members across Florida each year.

We’re honored to partner with not only our teams but also peer organizations and academic researchers across the United States to best advance work within early childhood programs, behavioral health, child welfare and community solution models.

CHS values data-driven decision-making and is committed to publishing resources that are grounded in theory, research-based, as well as both practical and accessible.

For more information or to partner with our team, please contact Wade Lijewski, CHS Senior Vice President of Practice Integration.

Children’s Home Society of Florida is the only organization in the nation to develop, in collaboration with tech giants, the innovative solution – CaseAIM®.

CaseAIM® gives case managers the ability to carry out essential case-related tasks while in the field through a phone or tablet. Everything from home visit assessments to court documents  can be managed without the necessity of being in, or traveling to, the office.

The goal of CaseAIM is to enable case managers to spend more face-to-face time and build stronger relationships with those on their caseloads, identify case-appropriate community resources, collaborate on developing individualized case plans, and provide children and families with skills for success.

Results:

  • 61% of children using CaseAIM® exited foster care within 12 months, compared to 45% of those not using CaseAIM®
  • 45.5% reduction in case manager turnover in 2 years, leading to increased stability for children

Did you know domestic violence is the most common danger in child abuse and neglect cases across the United States?

It’s why, in partnership with the University of Central Florida’s Institute for Social and Behavioral Science (ISBS), Children’s Home Society of Florida developed Partners for Safe Families™ (P4SF) , an initiative to serve victims in care.

By more quickly deploying appropriate interventions, including enhanced training, evidence-based screening, safety planning and counseling, organizations can help lessen the trauma and level of risk to victims and their children.

Results:

  • Case managers and clinicians are 6x more likely to identify domestic violence and extreme danger in the home by case managers utilizing P4SF’s interventions

Growing evidence reveals that monitoring and increasing happiness is essential to a fulfilled, positive life. To explore further, Children’s Home Society of Florida developed Positive Psychology through Happiness™ (PPH) – a new intake tool – and HAPPINESS Curriculum – an intervention framework for behavioral health service providers.

Led in partnership with the School Mental Health Collaborative (SMHC) within the USF College of Education which found the program to meet sufficient standards for rigor to permit designation as an “Evidence -Based Alternative” post-treatment.
