Michael J. Shaver, Chief Executive Officer
A longtime advocate for children and a recognized leader in the child welfare industry, Michael "Mike" Shaver believes in strategic collaboration and in using research, evidence and data to develop, deliver and analyze innovative practices and programs to ensure children and families receive only effective, quality services. His extensive experience in collective impact, including his leadership in bringing the model to Chicago’s most troubled neighborhoods, is a tremendous asset as Children's Home Society of Florida looks to embark on more strategic opportunities. Mike believes lasting solutions to social challenges are best created when organizations work together to achieve goals that will have dramatic, lifetime impacts on those we serve.
Prior to joining Children's Home Society of Florida, Mike served for seven years as Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President of Children's Home + Aid in Chicago. Previously, he ran a management consulting business, served as deputy director for Fostering Results in Chicago and spent several years with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services. He earned his master’s degree from the University of Chicago and his bachelor’s degree from Colorado College.
